T-Mobile USA: No, We’re Not Getting the iPhone Yet

One of the questions on lots of folks minds, especially T-Mobile customers, is whether the deal to sell to AT&T means T-Mobile will finally get the iPhone.

Well, if they ever become part of AT&T, clearly the combined company will have the device. But that doesn’t change things for now, T-Mobile said, adding that the company remains independent (and iPhone-less) until the deal closes, which should take about a year.

“We do not offer the iPhone,” the company said in a question-and-answer page for customers. “We offer cutting edge devices like the Samsung Galaxy S 4G and coming soon our new Sidekick 4G.”

As for what the deal does mean for current customers, T-Mobile doesn’t offer up too many details, but did note that it “will honor all contracted plans that are entered into before the change of ownership.”
